Hon. Sulola Akande is the Chairman/Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Nassarawa (2024). She is an alumna of the prestigious Queen’s School Ibadan and holds a degree in Botany from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). She also earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA), with a focus on public policy, from the University of Lagos, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the same institution. Hon. Akande began her career with vacation employment in the Accounts Department of Guinness Nigeria PLC and later worked in the Technical Services Department of Cadbury Nigeria Limited during her National Youth Service year. Her remarkable career as a public administrator spans nearly two decades, during which she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social welfare improvement and economic development in various roles. She was elected twice to the Lagos State House of Assembly, where she served as a Principal Officer (first as Deputy Chief Whip and later as Deputy Majority Leader) and chaired several ad hoc committees that resolved complex disputes and managed crises. Her leadership skills led to her recruitment by the Executive arm, where she served as the Commissioner for Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation and, later, as the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives. During her tenure as a two-time commissioner, she was instrumental in the establishment of several industrial and creative hubs, as well as Skill Acquisition Centers throughout the state. One of her key focuses was emphasizing social welfare as a critical function of government. At the end of each tenure, she received Letters of Commendation from the respective Governors of those administrations. Hon. Akande’s dedication to the economic growth and social development of Lagos State, particularly for women and children, is evident in the numerous business development opportunities, training programs (often free or highly subsidized), and skill acquisition initiatives she championed. Thousands of Lagos residents benefited from these programs. Additionally, she privately sponsored Youth Sports Competitions, Private Scholarships, Women’s Empowerment Programs, and the Lola Akande Math and Public Speaking Competitions, which she organized regularly to promote excellence in these areas. Throughout her political career, Hon. Akande attended numerous notable international courses, training programs, and workshops. She has won several local and international awards in recognition of her stellar leadership and philanthropy, including the International Outstanding Leadership Award from the Institute of Chartered Personnel Management and the Melvin Jones Fellowship by Lions Clubs International. Her exceptional performance in the roles she has held led to her recent appointment as Chairman/Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, where she is entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the next generation of leaders. With two decades of experience in the Capital & Money Markets, Seyi began his professional career at Forthright Securities & Investment Limited, where he rose to the position of Assistant Manager (Operations) in 2007. He later joined Equity Capital Solutions Limited in March 2008 as Manager/Head of Operations. Within a year, he was recognized as a turnaround manager, addressing operational bottlenecks and introducing well-defined technological and human capital frameworks to improve efficiency. Seyi also played a key role in designing a new business plan, leading a rebranding process, implementing a robust performance monitoring matrix to drive a competitive workforce, and establishing a highly technical research department designed to function as a profit center, among other initiatives. In February 2009, he joined Skyview Capital as the pioneer Head of Operations & Senior Manager.
